Avatar tops world's movie charts

Avatar is spoken about everywhere. It is nominated nine times for the Oscar 2010 and is likely to get a few awards. Avatar is a 2009 American science fiction movie scripted and directed by versatile movie director James Cameron, with Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez and Stephen Lang playing the lead parts.
The term Avatar has its origins in Indian mythology. It is "god's visit to Earth to fix something that is broken". Being one of the three gods who shield creation, Vishnu visits Earth often. As Hindu mythology state, Vishnu is dark-blue in colour. Having been possibly inspired by Hindu mythology, James Cameron has also decided to make the aliens blue.
The movie is set in the year 2154. It emphasizes the ever-lasting human vices, such as gluttony, immaturity and ferocity resulting from ignorance.
The plot revolves around a soldier - Jack - who is sent to Pandora the moon placed in the Alpha Centauri star system to help The Corporation that wants to mine and export a precious mineral called unobtainium. The Na'vi are the alien sentient humonoid civilization living and thriving on Pandora. They are a part of a big symbiotic living system that includes animals and plants which are connected by a biological interaction network. The Corporation plans to mine the moon and the Na'vi fight for their fatherland. The quick expansion and growth of the mining colony threatens the continued existence of the local tribe.
When on a mission, Jake is taken in by the Na'vi and gets acquainted with their labguage, culture and habitat. He falls in love with a female Na'vi who helps him when he is lost in the forest.
Avatars are biological creatures - a combination of human and alien DNA. They are not self-aware and are controlled by a human from whose DNA they were made. The soldier controls an avatar made from his brother's DNA.
AVATAR is an idealistic movie depicting an ideal world. The end of the movie is especially moving. The visual effects are breath-taking. Being a talented skillful film maker, Cameron has shot one of the most thought-out and consistent movies. The movie is worth watching.
